The Salida del Sol Chapter headquartered in Santa Fe is at the beginning of the trail and is the only chapter in New Mexico at this time so we draw our membership from the whole state; Las Cruces to Farmington and Raton to Gallup.
There are 400 miles of the trail in New Mexico and all three routes are represented so there is plenty to do in the way of research, education and trail marking. Currently there are NPS trail signs on the Armijo Route and the Main Route of the trail. We partner with the NPS, BLM, USFS, and the Army Corps of Engineers on projects in New Mexico.
We are working on educational trunks for youth education in the schools and would like to see new chapters form in the Taos and Aztec area of the state.
